First, they will not let the petitioner in with your fiancé or spouse which started us off bad as the information on VJ said that I could go in (I've changed that on VJ). We had prepared assuming I would be there for everything but the final interview.

We drove down the night before so we could be there early and avoid any early morning traffic problems getting to Abu Dhabi from Dubai. We stayed at the Premier Inn Capital Centre (AED406 for 1 night, 2 persons). We got there about 6:15AM (not much sleep that night) and were first in line, by 7AM there were 8 or 9 parties in line and by 7:30 maybe 15. PLEASE NOTE: NO BRIEFCASE, PURSE, HANDBAG OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE EMBASSY PROPERTY. HAVE HIM/HER BRING HIS/HER WALLET AND PUT THE DOCUMENTS IN A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG (LIKE CARREFOUR). Many people were not allowed in because of this and had to find a place to put their bags off the property. (not even allowed to leave then on the waiting benches). We purchased 2 clear plastic document holders, available from Carrefour or Choitrams for about AED3). At just before 7:30 they lined up and took all the Immigrant Visas (outside they classify the K-1 as Non-immigrant because that what it states on the DS-160 confirmation), then lined up the non-immigrant. You go to a window outside and present the DS-160 confirmation page, the appointment letter and beneficiary passport and then go in for security check. At the security check they will take their mobile and anything else unacceptable (like keys etc.). Then you are taken in to the consul area and given a number, this number is what is used to call them to different windows:

First - Give documents - make sure she has a copy of the documents as well as originals as they only took copies from my fiancé (except for I-134, they took the original)
Second - pay the $265 Fee
Third - Fingerprinting

It seems like they sometimes change the order of 2 & 3 above based on the consul being ready to do the interview. She said some did not pay until after the interview and some were fingerprinted before paying, but all gave documents first

Then the Interview - she got the lady that is described in some of the reviews on VJ. She handed back the pictures we sent with the I129F, had her write my name on and sign the DS-156K and swear the oath. Then she started asking questions, she was stern and rude and acted like she didn't believe any of the answers and very challenging on all questions. She did not ask any of the normal questions mentioned in reviews but picked an area where we are a little different from others and just harped on it. The interview took place at a window in the main room and the interviewer was on a microphone so everyone could hear everything that was said. She ended the interview by saying something like "Are you sure everything you told me and all the documents you gave me are true or else you will be banned from the US forever". Then she gave her the pink slip and said to pick up her passport on the date and time specified (about 4 working days). No mention if she was approved or not so we ended up not sure, but believe we are approved and will get the Visa on Monday when we go back. I don't want to scare you with this, many people get some guy and he is said to be very nice. This lady likes to be confrontational and rude but if your fiancé gets her he/she should stick to their guns and tell the truth and they will get through it fine. We were done by about 9:45AM.
