Greetings,
I am going to try and give as much detail as I could get from my husbands experience as possible.
He arrived at the Embassy in Nairobi at 4 am he said that it was useless to be there that early because they don't open the gate until 6:am. But I told him to be there about 5:30 am because the que may be long.
He was the first one there and by 5:30 am 6 people had arrived. Once they opened the gate he went through a check point where he gave his cell phone to the guard and got a number to retrieve it when he was finished. There were check points that lead to the reception. He passed through the long tent then the final check {barracks}, into the Embassy building reception area where you wait for your number to be called. You then press and enter the door to a counter by number 1, 2, 3 or 9. You are then called to the counter and the first questions are to verify all of your documents {marriage certificate, birth certificate, divorce decree, tax transcripts, and picture of us together}, to have ready and instructions.
Then you go back to sit and wait for a call to go and do your biometrics. Once you are completed with that then you will take a seat and wait for your final interview. At the interview counter he was asked {by what he calls a black American}, for his documents. Then she started the questions, about his wife ie being married before and how did the our relationship develop, pictures where shown, when did you met, her job, how many children, the name of the co-sponsor and the relation to, where they reside. If his wife has any siblings, their names and who is ages. He was asked if he was ever married and if he had any children. She also asked him in which state did I live in.
The interview he said was all of 4 minutes. She then looked at him and smiled and said....YOU ARE APPROVED!!!!! Have a good day
He said the que was long with check points all along the way, and there were two lines. His appointment was at 6:30 am and he was finished by 8:30 am. Hubby said to make sure that I include the approval is based on document organization and the person giving the interview. So you should be calm and look at the CO in the eyes with confidence. He said it was a very good experience and simple.
