Today (22nd Jan) myself and son had our K1 & k2 interviews. We live in Dublin so only had to leave at 12:20 (interview was at the what seems to be standard 1pm time). We arrived at the embassy at 12:40pm, got dropped of around the corner and walked around. Plenty of parking on streets surrounding embassy. I got to the embassy itself at 12:45pm and went to the window expecting to have to wait a few more minutes, they let us go through the door to the right, where you enter a airport like security screening. They asked for my passport and then for me to empty belongings into tub to go through screening. I then had to leave my phone (switched off) in locker to which they give you a key for when your leaving to collect.
I then exited that area and went up to main building, up the ramp on right hand side. Where you are greeted by another member of security and asked what your purpose is (passport or visa). You then sit and wait to be called to a window in front. There are several window's.we had to wait longer then I expected to first be called, 50 minutes in total, we got to the room at 12:50pm. After waiting for 50minutes the security guard came up and told us to go to window 4, where a very pleasant gentleman asked me my name to retrieve our file.
It seems a miricle that I even had an interview considering he first asked me how I got my appointment, because he did not have my notice of readiness or DS-160 forms in my file. Regardless and after my heart skipped a beat he proceeded to ask me for documents for my own visa( passport, police cert, birth cert, affidavit of support and support documents and my medical envelope, which he opened and gave me the Xray disc back for POE). Half way through this my 5year old decided he needed the bathroom, which the gentleman was very understanding and allowed me to run him to the bathroom (which is just at the door you enter to waiting area) and waited for me to return. We then continued with sons (birth cert, medical and letter of consent from his father), he then told me to leave folder there and go to payment window (number 6) where I gave lady both postal orders each for 226. Then went back to gentleman at 4 to finish last bits. He explained a little about the envelope which to open which to not etc then said I could sit down and wait for interview officer. We waited again for about 25 minutes until we were called.
Once there she asked me to swear an oath that everything was correct.and to give finger prints for myself and one hand finger print for son. This is a signature to confirm you swear the oath. She then asked me several questions:
How did you and your fiance meet?
When did you first see each other in person?
When did you become romanticly involves?
Have you visited him in america?
Have you met his family? Tell me a bit about them
Have you seen his house? What is it like?
Was he previously married?
What happened to marriage?
Have you any wedding plans?
See then told me my visa had been approved and I would receive it in 7-10days.
Over all good experience, apart from my nerves on the way it went great.
