This is a review for the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, K1 Visa interview.
-I got there at 7:15 am, there were 7 families already before me. They make you line up sitting on the bench. Note that strictly the applicants only are allowed at the Embassy, but family and friends can wait outside. NO BAGS ALLOWED. If you have a phone switch it off but better leave it at home. If you don't comply with the rules you can be denied the visa without the interview. So, do not bring any. Family/Friends bags who are there to wait for you outside can hold a bag for you, but the insides may be checked by the security guard. You are allowed to bring only the plastic bag with documents in it, and you can bring a bottle of water, but they will make you drink from it at the security scanner to make sure its water.
-At 8 am they line you up in front of the door where there is a counter and they will ask for your Appointment letter and a passport for a check up. After you line back again and wait to enter the embassy. They allow 2 people at one time. It goes quite fast though.
-After you enter the embassy you go trough the scanner. Remove everything from the pockets, place it in the tray and pass trough the scanner.
-After that you go trough the yard to the embassy where they give you a number. They sit you down with all other immigrants and you wait for your number to be called
-On the first counter the person working there will take all the documents and your passport. They did not ask for my chest X-ray.
-After that you go to the other counter to pay the visa fee.
-After that they will call you out for fingerprinting.
-After that is done, i waited for another 2 hrs for my final interview. Its in a counter but in the private room. you sit down and you first take the oath. After that they ask you questions. Mine were:
- How and when did you meet?
-Do you have any family in the US?
-How long have you been in the UAE?
-What is he doing for living?
-Where did he study?
-Did you meet his family?
-Where does his family live?
I was asked to provide some pictures of us which they looked at briefly.
-If you visa is approved, they give you a pink card and tell you to return for a visa pick up in about 7 days.
