we arrived at 6am in the morning. there are 3 poles but don't think light pole size like i did. more like broom handles that are about 8 feet tall with numbers 1, 2 and 3 on them. bring an umbrella. we didn't and had to buy one from some lady but it was only 5 bucks. everyone was in line 1 but i had read to be in line 3. we didn't move to line 3 because it is in the grass and dirt. around 6:30, the announced which line was for what and we moved to 3. you needed your passport in your hand and the appointment letter. they put a green sticker on your shirt after you showed them your passport and letter. we were let in early, around 6:45. they checked purses and you went through a metal detector. we then went inside and lined up for the line that was for our type of visa. then a lady gave a little speech about the process and then we got a brown folder that had k1 on the outside and a list of documents on the inside. we put them in order and waited. my fiancee got called within 15 minutes and i went to the window with her but was told to go back and take a seat. the lady reviewed the documents and asked my fiancee to write my name. they didn't ask for the certificate of migratorio. we then waited by windows 1-3. the men's bathroom was shut down for a while, so that sucked. we were waiting from about 7:30 to 10:30 and then we got called to window 5. it gets boring sitting out there and it does get a little chilly with the wind so dress accordingly. the interviewer was an american woman and was probably in her 30's. she asked my fiancee how we met, did she speak english, do i speak spanish, how many kids did she want, where did i live and then asked to see photos of us. we had an album of about 200 photos and she looked at the first 30 and said that was enough. she said everything was perfect and normally we would be approved but we weren't because someone shares my fiancee's name here and that person is some kind of criminal and we would have to wait for an extra background check that could take up to 6 weeks. the lady explained this to my fiancee and then to me. she was extremely nice and could speak both languages perfectly. i had brought everything but the kitchen sink to the interview but the basic paperwork was good enough. i personally wouldn't get there until 6:30. everything else was pretty smooth. our case was just bad luck.
