My fiance arrived at the Embassy and showed them the appointment letter, then had a seat. They called him up for the documents, then he had a seat. Then they called him up for the payment, then he had a seat (lots of turning stuff in and then sitting and waiting.) He got called back to the interview. The officer was a woman and the questions were pretty extensive. She asked about my jobs - current and previous. She asked a lot of questions about my family; what we did for Thanksgiving, if they had ever been separated or divorced (they had been separated when I was younger, so she asked further questions about that.) She asked why my father hadn't come to Indonesia with my mother to visit me and my fiance (We met while we were both living and working in Indonesia.)

Regarding our relationship she asked if either of us have children or had been previously married, but nothing about how we met or how long we had been together, etc. Very odd. They did show him some of the pictures I had submitted in the I-129f and quizzed him on where they were taken, etc.

The majority of questions she asked were about me and my time in Indonesia. Like, why and when I left, what my house was like there, questions like that. So definitely a different set of questions than I had seen posted here before.

After the questions she congratulated him and told him to come back next week to pick up his passport with the visa! Approved!!! This has been a long stressful process, but we see the light at the end of the tunnel now!

Overall it was a good experience at the Embassy. Long waits and random questions, but she was friendly and courteous.
