Consulate / USCIS Member Review #15710

Frankfurt, Germany Review on December 3, 2014:

Stressed Out

Rating:
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

(I'm the USC petitioner...I accompanied my husband during his interview)

Our appointment was for 07:30 and we showed up at 07:10, went to the right line (for everything other than non-immigrant visas) where we waited maybe 3 minutes before a voice on the speaker system asked for the one next in line from the US Citizen Services line. The lady was real friendly, wanted to see both of our passports and gave us a green slip and a W-number and told us to go to security screening.

At security outside the man had us empty our pockets and asked us if we had any electronics. Our passports and everything we were carrying in our pockets were all put into a plastic bag that was xrayed inside with the rest of our stuff. (jacket, purse, etc....shoes can stay on) They kept the headphones in my purse and gave me a laminated pick-up number so I could retrieve them when we left the consulate.

Once inside the interview hall we were greeted by a man behind a podium who looked at our W-number and told us to go to Window 22 (the cashier counter) in the back left corner of the hall. There a man asked for my husband's passport and for us to pay the $325 IV fee. He then told us to sit down and wait for our number to be called.

The woman at the second counter (Window 20) was German and just verified information we had entered on the DS-260/Document Delivery Registration online. She went into great detail explaining how things went from here and what to expect after entering the US as an LPR, how long it takes to get your green card, etc. I actually learned a couple things from her that I hadn't learned yet on this website, lol.

After that lady asked us to take a seat again, only about 5 minutes later our number popped up for Window 17 where a man greeted us in a friendly manner. He double-checked the fingerprints taken by the woman at the previous counter and proceeded on with the actual interview. He asked my husband "How did you guys meet?" and then me "What are your all's plans after you move to the US?" and then the rest was just small talk to tie up ends on our story. The CO actually turned out to be from a city only about 45 minutes from my hometown in Oklahoma, so we quickly exchanged a few stories between us over the Sooner State, haha. He asked us to wait a moment as he typed some stuff into the computer and my husband just nervously chattered in English and German, lol. He then told us my husband's IR-1 visa was approved and that it should take no longer than a week to receive it in the mail.

It couldn't have been easier! From the time we left our car to the time we sat back in it had only been 40 minutes.
