I'm a US citizen and went with my wife and 2 year old stepson. Had a 7:30 am appointment. Arrived at about 7:15 am. The proper entrance is not well marked but it was the only one that was open and there was a greeter and 2 guards on the sidewalk. Greeter checked the appointment letter and passports then guards did a quick metal scan and we were let inside. First step was to wait in an orderly queue to go through security and then wait in another queue to hand in the appointment letter and my wife and son were finger printed and given a number. Immigrant and non-immigrant visas are all processed together but given numbers in two separate ranges. When almost everyone had processed through that line the started calling the numbers to hand in all the paperwork. Applicants with small children were given priority and called first. After handing in the paperwork we sat in the same room to wait for our interview. Interviews began after almost everyone had handed in their paperwork. Interviews are conducted standing in front of windows further down in the same room from the windows where paperwork was turned in. Again applicants with small children were given priority but even so it was about a 30 minute wait. There were maybe 60 or so immigrant visa applicants and 40 non-immigrant visa applicants. Luckily there was a small play area at the end of the room which kept the kids entertained. When we were called my wife and I were sworn in and then I was asked to take my stepson and have a seat. Her interview consisted of some very basic things like where did we meet, when did we get married, where did we honeymoon, what did I do for a living, what were her plans once she got to the states, when was I away from Vietnam after we met, what was her job, what did she know about my children, why did I get 2 divorces and of course she was asked why she wanted to marry me. After that she told me it was my turn. I was asked very much the same questions but not as many. We had 500 pages of proof of relationship papers and maybe 100 photos and they didn't ask to see any of that. Took maybe 10 minutes and we were approved. The consular officer and the Vietnamese lady who was there to help both seemed like very pleasant people. Looks like they have a heavy workload but they process everyone efficiently and pleasantly.
