Emailing the embassy generally gets a response within 7 days.

Calling the San Salvador embassy (which actually calls somewhere in Mexico) costs $7 from the USA and they have no idea what they're talking about. I was told to call back numerous times, and when I did, they told me to call back again, etc. They also had told me to wait so many days before contacting them about the same issue, and I ended up emailing the embassy the same day and they forwarded me the packet by email the next day. Otherwise I would have waited another month before they would re-send me the packet by snail-mail (total of 90 days!). They contradict each other.

Also, my husband could not find any place to buy the Telefonica VISA phone cards in the Santa Ana province of El Salvador, making it literally impossible for him to call the embassy from there. I complained to the Mexican call center, and they said that perhaps at the embassy they sell the cards. So you have to go all the way to the embassy (3 hours) just to buy the card to call them!?!

Anyway, we have not gone to the interview yet, so I'll keep y'all updated on that.

Also, he got vaccinated with the Mumps vaccine at the embassy-approved doctor, and how he has mumps, two weeks later!

Salu
