Had my K1 Visa interview on Monday, November 10th at 1pm.
I drove up to Dublin and parked on a side street, just to the left of the front entrance of the Embassy. Plenty of on street parking for 2.90 an hour. I threw 5 euro into the machine and made my way to the entrance at 12.45pm.
You need to approach the front window entrance and state the reason you are there (Visa Interview). You will then be granted access to the security area. Security screening is similar to airport screening - I had left everything I didn't need in the car so I just had my car keys and paperwork.
Once through security you make your way to the Embassy building itself where you will receive a number and wait to be called. I was called to three separate windows in the following order:
1) To submit passport, original birth cert, medical cert, Garda Cert and Affidavit of Support
2) To submit postal order as payment
3) The final interview where the interviewer asks some questions about the validity of the relationship and takes fingerprints. He will have the majority of your information on screen so I was not asked to submit any further proof.
The final interviewer informed me that the Visa would be granted and processed on Wednesday as they were not working Tuesday (Veterans Day). I was back in my car and on the way home by 2.10pm.
I received the package in the post on Friday, November 14th.
I haven't seen anyone else mention it but, for what its worth, I wore a suit to the interview as did another gentleman in the queue before me. Another gentleman there was more (smart) casually dressed.
All the staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful - full of smiles as I was leaving with a happy face!
A great experience overall.
