Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was at 9:15am and I arrived very early as I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find the place (albeit Singapore is a very small island). I lingered outside the embassy for a little while and only entered the embassy at 8:45am

I climbed the short hill and saw a nice indian security guard and she asked if I was here for Immigrant or Non-immigrant. I told her I was here for Immigrant Visa and she told me to queue behind 2 caucasian men right outside the security office. (All reviews were right, it is under the bright hot sun) I looked around and turned behind, saw a ton of people queuing and wondered if I cut some kind of line. (I didn't care much at this point as I was a nervous wreck)

The caucasian went in turn by turn when another security officer yelled "Next!". When it was my turn, I was told to place all my belongings on the conveyor belt for scanning. Walked through the metal detector all okay, another security guy checked my belongings... THOROUGHLY. Took some items and gave me a number for my stuff.

Went on to ANOTHER security checkpoint and was told to show her my belongings which I did. I was told where the room was (First door on the left) and to press Immigrant Visa on the ticketing machine.

I found the room with ease and pressed on Immigrant Visa. I saw that my number was 0003, looked up on the number screen and saw that the numbers were in 7xxx or so (Not good with numbers so can't remember).

Sat down and saw that all interviews were held over the counter. If the officer spoke directly at the microphone, everyone can hear them and you. Waited for about 30 mins before I was called to a nice officer who said he is going to review my documents and began asking me a few general questions (which we over prepared for)

a) What does your husband work as
b) What is your husband's designation
c) Where does he work
d) Where did you two meet?
e) Did you two meet prior to getting married?

At this point I can see him ticking off things on my file and he seem rather satisfied. He then asked me if I have heard about the Domestic Violence pamphlet and told me to read it as I will be quizzed (WASN'T TOLD ABOUT THIS -_-). I was then told to sit back down for the consular officer to call for me

About another 30mins a caucasian consular officer called my name and I approached the window. He told me he needed my fingerprints for the form I completed online. (DS260?)and I did. He then told me everything looks good thats it. He did not ask me ANYTHING! He asked me if I had questions and I asked "Is it approved?" and he said "Well, I will approve this in a few days probably within 5 business days" and I said okay and that was it... a whole 5 mins.

I left embassy and checked the ceac site FURIOUSLY

31st October (After Interview) Status: Ready
4th November Status (In the morning): Administrative Processing
4th November Status (Few hours later): Issued

I'm not sure how long till the courier contacts me though.

THATS IT! What a long journey... good luck to anyone else waiting ! I know it is difficult but I find it easiest to not focus so much on the waiting and more on life itself. I focused on my work and less on the process as I am OBSESSIVE.

Good luck everyone
