I arrived at the Embassy around 8:45am for a 9:30am interview. I made my way to Gould's Pharmacy to drop off my belongings (now let you take in tablets/phones and backpacks - only had to leave my laptop with the pharmacy!). I lined up around 9am and it took about half an hour-ish to get through both lines and security (I wasn't wearing a watch so it was a bit of a blur!).
Anyway, when I entered the Embassy I was given my 'I9--' number [be aware that they don't call them in order so don't worry!] and I made my way to the waiting area. I waited around 20 minutes or so to be called to the first window where I gave my documentation and fingerprints to a gentleman. He then asked me to be seated until my number was called again. [From what I can gather, there is only 2 consulate officers interviewing]. It was actually only another 10 minutes until I was called and I was sworn under oath before the interview started. The CO was a lovely American woman who put me a little more at ease (but I was still nervous!). She simply asked How we met, When we met in person and when we knew we wanted to marry. She then took out our pictures from our orinional i-129F package (she told me it was the most favourite part of her job!). She awwww'd and told me that "...you can always tell when people are right for each other by how they smile together in photo's" which made me so happy! She typed on her computer for a second and then said "I'm going to recommend this be approved" and that was it!
SO... if you have all the documents the US Embassy tell you to take and follow directions exactly you honestly have nothing to worry about. As I said to my fiancée, I think it's very much a formality really.
I told my other half to set an alarm for 2 hours after my scheduled time 'just to make sure' (as the letter said it could take between 2-3 hours) but I was out after only an hour. Needless to say, I had no qualms about waiting in starbucks with a Pumpkin Spiced Latte until she woke up!
Good Luck everyone! <3
