Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
My fiance arrived at the park near the Interests Section around 6:15am. I was unable to attend the interview with my finace so he filled me in on his experience. He heard his name called shortly after arriving and showed the officer his national ID card and was directed to a line to enter the Interests Section office. He was able to enter the Interest Section around 9am and was taken to the first room to check that he did not have any electronics, then to the second room where he paid for the visa and recieved a receipt to give to the immirgation officer and another window where he turned in all the required documents as well as additional supporting evidence of our relationship. He was then given a card with a number and color. He waited inside until about 3:00. He said that he was one of the last called and watched many who were denied, which made him and the person sitting next to him very nervous. The room was divided into those that were there for immigration visa and travel visas.
He was interviewed by a younger woman and the entire interview was in English. He said that she was nice and helped him to feel at ease. He thought the interview lasted about 10 mintues.
He was asked the following questions:
-How did you meet your fiancee
-In which language do you communicate most often?
-Where did you learn English?
-How do you and your fiancee communicate with one another?
-How do you have access to internet--where do you go to have internet access? Do you have internet access at your home?
-Where do you work and what do you do?
-Have you traveled to other countries?
-What does your fiancee do and where does she work?
-Who is her best friend?
-Where did your fiance met her?--What college did they met? (he had told them that I met my best friend at college (but I went to two different universities).
-Do you have relatives in the U.S.?
-Have you ever been a part of the communist party?
-Which state does your fiancee live in?
-She showed him a picture of us together and asked her where the photo was taken and what we had to eat at that place (as I had attached a reciept from the resturant).
She also gave him information on domestic violence and told him it was infomration only and that he should be aware of what domestic violence is. He said that during the interview she smiled, which made him feel more comfortable and that she seemed open and interested in his answers. He felt that she had read all of the materials very carefully given the questions and she asked also about the type of softwear that he likes to develop and how he feels about his work. She also seemed to notice the time stamps of the emails/chats/video chats and asked about the routine of how and when we communicate with one antoher.
She then gave him a piece of paper letting him know that he was approved and that he is able to return to the Interest Section on Monday to pick up his Visa.
My fiance also brought a sandwhich with him to the interview, which was helpful as he spent the majority of the time waiting inside, where there was only access to water and a restroom.
Overall, he said that he enjoyed the experience as he was excited to tell them about our relationship, but again the hardest part was waiting and watching others being denied visas--it was sad for him as everyone is there wanting to be with a loved one.
