Hi All,
Well, everything went smoothly yesterday. We showed up at 10am for our 10:30am interview. There are bathrooms at the end of the hall, so that was nice in comparison to the Vancouver embassy! And they seemed to allow purses and electronics (I saw alot of people talking on their cells and listening to music while waiting). The guards in the front are nice and didn't want to see anything for id except our folders to put through the scanner. We then went into a waiting room that had a basket for interview letters outside the door (to the left side of the door) - make sure you put your letter in the basket or else you will be waiting for nothing (alot of people forgot to put their letter in).
Waited until 11:10 to actually be called. We were sworn in, asked to verify name, addie, ssn. We had a really friendly lady who asked then to see all the joint information that we had to give her. So I just gave her a bunch of copies of everything I had as major proof. She didn't ask any q's about any of it. She did ask when we opened our joint acct, how we met in detail, and how many people (and who) were at our wedding, where our ceremony was. She then said that my name check had went through so she could stamp my passport today. She crossed out the "1 year" part of the stamp and made it only for 60 days so that in that time I should be getting the real card and if not, to come see them through infopass! So it sounds like Portland still gives out the stamp.
Thanks to ALL for all your help - looks like all the couples there had lawyers and we just waltzed right in with a couple folders and away we went with a bunch more $$ saved and a greencard stamp in hand!
