We got to the USCIS office at 7 am and out appointment was 8 am. It is a very clean and relaxed office and it was nice that there was not much traffic on the 7 mile drive there. One more hour and morning traffic would have been horrible.
Anyway everyone was friendly and promptly at 8 am the agent came out and introduced himself. Very friendly and courteous. We did the oath and asked a few questions, maybe 2 or 3 in addition to verifying things with my wife that she had checked off on the I-485. He did not ask me for hardly any docs but I volunteered the life insurance policy and a few other documents. We felt that we were approved before we got there. They had reviewed our things that were previously submitted and did not need anything else. We volunteerd a our picture album and he seemed to enjoy the pictures. We had a picture of my wife in one picture next to a life like figure of President Obama. So it appeared my wife and President Obama were standing next to one another. We all laughed. He mentioned I had been married twice before and I immediately replied. Yes and the third time is the charm. He laughed. After 10 to 15 minutes with a smile hecsaid my wife Lily she was approved and verified the address they were sending the card to. I said do you need the passport picture we have and he said no I already have one. One thing we had going for us is that we have been married since 2010 and together since 2008. He asked what website we had met on. We told him Colombiacupid.com.
Very nice man and very unstressful 15 minutes. My wife did a little jig (dance) smiled and turned a circle in celebration and we were out the door.
When we went for my wife's tourist visa in 2011, I contacted my US Senators office from Oregon and they were very helpful in offering advice and wrote a "treat us fair letter" which seemed to help in the B2 tourist visa application.
We kept in touch with the Senator's office every year, sent them some pictures and Christmas greetings and stayed in touch. The said they could not advocate for the final interview for the green card but if we ran into a problem with anything we could surely call them. Anyway a great experience and now we wait for 3 years to pass and my wife an apply for citizenship. A great day and a great experience. We are very happy.
