Arrived at the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi at 06:45 AM, there were four people already there. The guard directed me to a second line, there was one person ahead of me. We waited on a bench. Just before 08:00 AM, everyone got up and lined up by the door. At 08:00, they opened the door and one-by-one we went to the window to explain our purpose for coming and to show our appointment letter. I had to leave my bag there at the security desk. I then went in to another waiting room and sat down. After just a few minutes, the guard motioned to go into a room in the next building in the embassy. A receptionist gave me a number (mine was 006) on a paper which also said the window I would be called to. I sat down near that window, there were a few others already seated in the area. After about 15 minutes, they called my number and I went to the window. They asked for my appointment letter and took all my papers. I sat down and they called me back after about five minutes and gave me back a lot of my papers. The woman (maybe Indian?) was business-like, not rude, not friendly. She directed me to the next window; there were two or three people already in line there. The wait was only about two minutes. They took my finger prints and eye scan, then sent me to another window. At this window there was a middle-age American woman who was not very friendly. She was very stern and kept asking me how we met, like she didn't believe me. She also asked how old I was, whether we both were married before, if we were divorced, how many children we have, what kind of work my fiance was in. It was kind of embarrassing because this window was near the waiting area and she was talking through a microphone in the window and everyone could hear our conversation. She was not friendly at all, almost accusatory. I guess that's her job. She directed me to go to the cashier and pay my fee. After paying, the cashier told me to go back to the interview window. The interviewer then gave me an appointment slip and told me to come back. She didn't say I was approved, but she didn't say I was denied so I assumed I was approved. I left the embassy a bit past 09:00 AM, so the whole process took a little more than an hour. I came back for my appointment about a week later and my visa was ready. Even though the interviewer was not friendly, it was fast once started.
