After many months of being unsure as to how the immigration process was going, we finally received notification that our interview was booked.
The weeks leading up to the interview were nerve wracking, as we checked, re-checked, and checked again all the paperwork, the requirements for medical checks and police checks, and made very, very sure that all items required were present and correct.
The day arrives, and I present my nervous self at the US Consulate at the requested time.
The security guard checked me through and adviced me to wait for window 5 to be free - which I did.
I waited maybe 25 minutes, and up I went. I met the person who was handling our application, who was extremely nice, and told me that all my papers were correct, and didn't even need further proof that the relationship was ongoing, as she could tell from our previous correspondance that we are in a committed relationship! So finger prints and hand over a couple of requested documents, then asked to sit and wait to be called up by an interviewing officer.
Called up to window three - the guy looks at me, looks at the papres, looks at me again and tells me there is no real need for a formal interview because everthing is there! Finger prints to prove it's me, take an oath stating all the information I handed them is true and correct, and then finger print the other hand to "signature" the oath.
And thats it.
2 hrs at the consulate, and maybe 7 1/2 minutes talking to people.
I cannot stress how important checking and double checking everything is - and my visa is granted!!!!!
