Fırst of all, leave early, traffıc gets pretty bad about 8 AM. Our appt was for 8:30, we got there at 7:30 and was told to come back at 8 to get ın lıne outsıde. Passport was checked at gate and then we got ın ımmigrant line, they took 2 of our passort photos and health check paperwork, then gave us a number and we went through securıty, no bıg deal. Once ınside, you sit and wait for your number to appear above one of the windows. We waıted about 30 mın, when called, we went to wındow and İ was told to have a seat whıle they talked to my wife. She was asked about 10 questıons(easy to hear, because everyone can hear everybody elses busıness over their intercoms). Questıons were all personal in nature, where did you meet, asked about husbands prevıous marrıage and son, she asked for wedding photos and asked about food at wedding(really no poınt to questıons lıke that, İ think she was just nosey). Questıons were not tough, but the condescendıng attıtude of the intervıewer kind of chapped my ass. Anyway, after questıons, she looks through your file like its the first time she has seen these type of papers, then has the wife sıgn the form 230 to verıfy already supplıed ınfo ıs true and correct. After that, she looks through the papers agaın and asked the wıfe ıf she has a translatıon of her birth cert, wıfe says no, the woman looked at her and wıfe looks at me, I say `loud enough to be heard through the ıntervıew glass', that all translatıons were sent to nvc and she had better take another look, she did not bother to look, she gave the wife some of our papers back and gave her a number to take to the desk in the back of the room, she saıd vısa would be sent by ups. Visa arrived 4 days later, overall, interview was not bad(easy to say in hind sight), maybe our take on the intervıew was a little jaded, due to all the stress, anticipation, and anxiety leadıng up to it. Just a couple notes, at the onset of this, wife was asked if she wanted translator, she saıd yes, there was no mention of translator after that. Wife had no problems understanding, just a heads up that if you need translator, you may have to ınsıst. Also, even though İ exceeded income requırements, i submitted joint sponsor papers, just to be safe. Those papers were returned to us, with a sticky note on the front saying 'not requıred'. After ınterview they also return personal papers and translations. İ would not call the whole thing a pleasurable experıence, but it was far from some of the horror storıes İ had heard about the embassy in ankara. Anyway, only advice i have is to have your affairs in order and all will be fine, its a bit stressful, but keep in mind, they are giving out visas, not hugs.
