We arrived at the consulate a little early for our appointment, which was very nearly first thing in the morning. Even still they didn't call out name for at least an hour after it was "scheduled".
They called us up to a small room with a door the size of a closet. The room was big enough for two medium sized people. It had one chair facing a window with a slot on a built in "desk table" to pass through documents. There were three times were were called up to the desk. The first time was to pass along papers to the receptionist woman, who handed the documents to the Interviewing Officer (IO) gentleman, the second time was to speak with the IO and the third time was also to speak with the IO again because of some snafu with the paperwork.
The US petitioner was present for the interview and both the receptionist and the IO were expressing their thanks over and over again for her presence.
The IO asked:
"How did you two meet>"
"How long have you been together?"
"Have you [the beneficiary], been to the US?"
"Have you [the petitioner], met his [the beneficiary] family?"
The IO then reviewed our papers. The medical packet was missing, and the Doctor told us that it was sent directly to the embassy, the beneficiary never received the packet in the mail, it turns out the medical packet is only valid in Argentina for 6 months, so we had to re-do the medical anyways. Also we needed to get an official copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate, we believed we did this prior, but it needed to be both an "official copy" from the civil records office, which requires a stamp and signature on the photocopy AND needed to be certified by the office of Vital records. Lastly the passport photos we had taken were not to spec, so we needed to do that. The IO informed us that we were approved, but we were getting an 221g and we needed to get the documents listed on the 221g together and return them to the embassy.
We had some troubles getting the medical finished as the doctor went on vacation in the middle of the process, so everything took a bit longer than we both wanted, but we dropped the packet with all the information on the 221g on August 11, 2014; the CEAC Status showed an update on August 13, 2014, and on August 15, 2014 the case changed from Immigrant Visa to Non-Immigrant Visa, the case creation date changed to that date as well as the case status update. On August 19, 2014 the CEAC status update showed the visa as "Issued".
