I probably should have run two accounts side by side because all along I have two petitions- one for my wife and one for my stepdaughter- my wifes case was complete at the NVC without any checklist 30 days before my stepdaughters case was complete because of one checklist-- was hard to fit that info in the format here- and I am feeling the same NOW -- my wife case was approved at the interview- but my stepdaughters case was put in AP status - because of complications with her birth certificate- I thought I had all the bases covered on that but we did not---
I have to get an attorney involved here in Honduras to clear it up that should take about a month- in the meantime my wife and biological daughter will be returning with me as soon as we get our hot little hands on her passport ( hopefully by Tuesday afternoon at the latest (flight is at midnight Tuesday)
As far as reviewing the consulate they were professional kind and courteous, they delivered factual information and guidance- I only wish that we could get definitive answers BEFORE we wait -- so we could be totally prepared- I.... like most here are going through this process for the first time and my situation was sort of unique- for my stepdaughter because a name is listed on her birth certificate as her father in name only- and even though I had a official / notorized / sealed affidavit from him declaring that he wa in name only and was aware of our marriage and plans so on and so forth-- it is not that easy apparantly..
I waited 2+ years to get my wife and daughter home- my stepdaughter spending a month or two vacationing at her grandmother house doesnt sound all that bad- it is not easy to do but then again what aspect of this entire process has been easy.. NONE--
I felt that everyone involved did the best they could under the current laws and regulations-- including the consulate- I am not even sure HOW to fix this whole thing but it is broken- the 7 months waiting at USCIS seemed the most rediculous, the NVC step made sense to me. The interview process also makes sense to me.
We PRE registered for the CARGO express - anticipating that change-- and are just in a circle pattern here in Teguc for the next few days- relieved its over- but anticipating getting our oldest daughter home with us at the same time..
