We were very nervous, but we got it! Jason came to Brazil to be with me in the moment of the interview. They don't ask for, but it is very important. If you can, please, ask your fiancé to attend the interview with you.
Well, if you are going to do the interview in Rio, let me tell you something: downtown here is not that great. The streets smell bad and we see a lot of drugged people on the streets. Yet, still safe to walk at the night. It has surprised me.
Jason put his phone alarm to 6:00 but he forgot to change the time, so we were supposed to wake up at 7! I woke up suddenly at 6:46. I could have wake up at 10, 12h. But no, I woke up at 6:46 so I thought that it was something saying I was going to get the visa.
We ate nothing, just got some coke and walked to the consulate, that is very near. But then we forgot the money to pay the fee. I had only 399 on my bank account and I read that the consulate does not accept cards. A lie, they accept international cards. So if the american are with you, he or she can pay with international card.
We were late. We got there and talked to the security guy, a big black one. He said I needed to wait till 8:20. I was feeling sick and like throwing up. So please, wake up at 6, get a good breakfast and walk to the interview. Don't do what we did.
Finally we could get in the waiting room. There, a guy (probably Alex) will give you two papers to fill. One will serve to Correios, the other one is for the consulate. They ask for your case number and more information. After that, you give Alex all the docs. He gives it to a consul and she review the papers. She talks to you and your fiancé but this is not the interview yet. She checks your income and says if you have enough money. Okay. After that you sit a lil more and wait for like 40 minutes.
I didn't see many couples there. They probably do like 6 couples a day. So please don't lose your chance. You don't want them to reschedule your interview.
I heard a woman saying my name. She was very nice. She made me swear I would say the truth.
She asked a lot about how we met. And then what Jason did to live, what are our plans to the wedding. So if you know all about your fiancé you will not have problems with these type of questions.
After that, she said our visa was approved and that we had to pay a fee at the Correios. The fee would not be more than 40 reals, the guy said. So we paid the fee and got back to the consulate to return the Correio paper to Alex, the guy in red shirt.
The feeling after you get you visa is amazing. You will never say goodbye to your fiancé again, and this is great. <3
