We just had our visa interview at the consulate in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday and it was a pretty painless process compared to what we had imagined. All of the staff working were pleasant and helpful throughout the entire morning.
Our interview was scheduled for 8:20am and we were let into the consulate around 8:40 to begin filling out the paperwork and go through the necessary processing. Around 10:30 we did the "interview part" with an American woman who was very friendly, talkative, and upbeat. Finally, by 11:15am we were walking out happy to hear that the visa was approved!
Although the process took the entire morning (which we had expected) it was a good experience and not at all as bad as you would think. Just make sure that you are completely prepared with all of the documentation otherwise they will send you home asking you to come back another day. Other than that, everyone was very nice and just wants to help as much as they can.
