The process leading up to the interview did not take long. Once inside the consulate we were asked to give our 129F package that consisted of all the forms they ask us to bring from a checklist they had sent us. The US fiance was not allowed inside the embassy. After the package was presented we sat and waited until our name was called. In my case that was about 3.5 hours. I was then called to a window and the interview lasted less than 5 minutes. At that time they asked for 2 forms that were not on the check list. First form needed was proof that I was never married. They told me to go to a court. The second was proof that my original 32 year old birth certificate was true. I was able to get this information in 2 days though through the government offices sent it express mail so it arrived the following day. I waited a week and had no reply so sent an email. They replied saying it was not received, even though the tracking number said it had been delivered and signed for. I then sent 2 more copies as I paid the government office for 4 copies in case something was lost. Another week went by. I sent another email. They replied that they had received it. But now they decided they wanted a copy of my Thai ID front and back and signed. This also was not on the checklist but they checked the Thai ID and my Thai passport when I went for the interview. So the signed ID was sent express mail three times because they claimed it was never received. My USA fiance went to citizen services and asked a Thai receptionist if they had access to received mail records. They were reluctant, but went to someone who spoke to him and looked up the receipt numbers. Even gave a printout. ALL the documents had been received weeks ago. My US fiance hand delivered a polite letter to the person in charge of both citizen services and the visa section since this was one of the first same sex marriage K1 applications he felt they might have handled. Anyway, two days later we had our approved sealed package and K1 visa.
