Interview was quick and easy. Arrived there 15min earlier for my 9am appointment. I was able to bring a bottle of water past security but had to take a sip from it. After going upstairs I waited for about 5 min and was called to one of the windows. Officer asked if documents were in the correct order and also to remove all papers clip. He had a quick look and asked me to sit down and wait until I was called again.
I waited for another 10-20min and was called by a woman to another window. A very friendly lady started by asking how I met my fiancé. When I began to tell the story she said: ‘I know how this story ends, you have a baby now, right?’ She remembered me from when I went to apply for my son’s US passport a few months ago. Unfortunately, because she was my interviewer on that occasion, she said she would need to assign me to another officer this time.
I had to wait for 20min to be called again. This time I was called by a male officer. He was also friendly and questions were very straight forward: How did we meet, What does my fiancé do for a job, Have I ever been convicted of any crime or overstay in the US…
I believe my case was quite simple since we had a baby November last year (already registered as an American Citizen) and have been back and forth every 3 or 4 month visiting each other for the last couple of years.
Hopefully POE will be as easy. I am just a bit concerned as I will stop in Brazil to visit my family there before going to the US, so won’t be arriving straight from Australia. I will post my experience in about 3 month when I arrive there. POE will likely be either Detroit or Atlanta.
