Adjusting from K1 - UK Applicant

For some reason I got an interview appointment ahead of my EAD/AP. Coming from a low fraud country I had expected no interview but a long wait for the GC so was a bit surprised when I got the letter so quickly (see my timeline for dates).

As with my UK K1 visa interview I had spent a lot of time reading VJ and compiling a neat , economical package of the documents I thought they would need. As with the UK interview I didn't need many of them.

My interview was at 08:35am and unlike the embassy interview it was relatively easy to get in and get booked in (and it is on the second floor). We were there about 15mins early and were seen promptly at the appointed time. Pleasant female IO took us through the interview.

1) Relationship history - very easy to cover and considering we first had a relationship at college 30 years ago, the photo of that broke the ice nicely. Also showed a few wedding photos.

2) The standard questions about being a prostitute/terrorist/polygamist were all answered in the negative . I'd say that was the longest part of the interview. I did listen carefully to each question as I wondered if they asked any trick ones.

3)Asked a few biographical details which were obviously a test as she had the answers in front of her. I got one wrong - my age :-)

4) A few family questions - children's names etc

5) Marriage certificate / SS / Passport etc

6) A small hiccup when she thought my vaccination record was wrong. It wasn't and eventually we agreed it was OK

No questions about the Affadvit, nothing on work and frankly no tough questions at all. It was pretty relaxed and easy. Ironically she told me that my IAD/AP had just been approved a few days earlier and that I would need to tear them up as my GC would probably arrive at the same time.

There seemed to be a lot of couples there. At least two with lawyers in tow.

So a good day was had by all - if you're reading this while waiting for yours - best of luck.
