(Adjustment of status from b2 visit visa)
We had a very relaxed interview process. We applied in feb 18th, and had our interview scheduled on may 15th. We arrived at 10 am, interview was scheduled for 1020. the man called my husbands name at 1040. My husband approached the door and asked if i can come with. the man said yes. He took us in the office and we raised our right hands and said that we will tell the truth. He then went over basic info with each of us. Birth date, address, phone number, and other things on application. Then he went over the questions with my husband about past criminal history, military etc. (off of the application)
He then asked us what we would like to add to the file to show that we have a relationship with any joint history. we gave 4 month of bank statements, (off the website with both our names listed), our rental agreement with landlord, (a copy with both names shown and copy of rent receipts), and a letter from the school showing we both registered my daughter there and showing our names and address.
Then he said "ok that's enough have a nice day....." So i quickly asked him if he would like to see our photos. (i was anxious to show him since we spent so much time preparing) He agreed so i showed him the album, from our wedding, few vacations, and family activities/holidays. He took 4 of the pictures for our file and then again stood, and said "you will hear from us in 3-4 months, good luck, thank you'
I was surprised and asked "4 months?!!? its so long" He said "sometimes it takes 2 weeks and sometimes 4 months"
Then we left. We got an approval email 2 days later, that they made the decision, and the green card was in the mail and received just 9 days after the interview.
All in all it was a very easy and painless process and the Milwaukee office was easy to find where to go, (the security people are kind and direct you) professional and laid back experience.
