Well this is my point of a view as an American going with my wife to get here IR-1 visa. I joined my wife as we have a baby and she was breast feeding, so no way around that. The security guard told me I could not enter, but I argued until he let me talk to someone else. He was a bit miffed by the stroller and what not, but ignored his stare down. I actually told the people inside that the guy was being a jerk....anyway, we go through security and picked up a number. This embassy is busy when it comes to Immigrant Visas. The Abu Dhabi processes most of the visa for people from Iran. We waited about an hour until my wife went up. They checked all of her documents and then they took her finger prints. The called her into an interview and I joined her. The dude back there asked me to leave and said he would call me if needed. 5 minutes later she was done. My wife said he asked 3 times when we were married, I am not sure why, we have been married for over 4 years, but she did get her visa. Overall, pretty straight forward. FYI, there is absolutely no privacy when you do the first initial conversation. There are some very awkward conversations, so be aware.
