Once we got past security and inside the embassy, they asked for the medical exam papers. They were sealed as directed by the doctor. They said we had to open them. I grabbed one to open and they said I couldn't open it there. They made my fiance (the beneficiary) go back outside the embassy to open the papers from the medical exam. Then she had to re-clear security and come back to me. that made me feel like i was back in the states! Bureaucracy at its dumbest.
Once inside, we were asked the standard questions that other people have mentioned by two different people. How did we meet, why is the wedding in the USA, what is my job and birthday. They didnt ask me anything. They didnt ask her son anything either. Then we got a paper that said once we submitted our DS 160, we would be approved. There were directions on the letter how to mail it.
That is frustrating because they would not schedule the appointment until we electronically filed the ds 160. That took us days to do as I had to translate every question on the form to my fiance and explain to her how to digitally sign it....all over the phone. Then we had to repeat the process for both of her kids.
I do not know how to print an internet form that is on 4 different internet pages!?!
One other weird thing. I expected them to take her passport and the passport of the children. They did not do that....but they said they would send her passports when they received the ds-160's....weird!
In the end, I am extremely happy we got approved, but worry about potential delays with more paperwork. The embassy people were very nice, but I am not sure they understand what is truly required.
