Fort Smith AR | Review on February 27, 2014: | Bill and Vicky
Rating: | Review Topic: Lifting Conditions
Arrived at 7:10am for an 8:30am appointment. Entered the building at 8:10am.
*NOTE* Fort Smith has room for one person or couple in the security area at a time. If you're not already past security, and you're not the one or couple in security, you'll be asked to wait outside until security is clear. You might be outside for a while.
ISO Bratton came to get us out of the waiting area at 8:45am. He swore us in as soon as we entered his office. He asked to see my wife's passport and green card. He had two files on his desk, each one about six inches thick. One was labeled PART 1 OF 2 and appears to be the documentation we did for our I-130. The other was labeled PART 2 of 2 and was all the paperwork related to the lifting conditions. I recognized most of the paperwork he went through...I sent it to them in the past. He asked us to confirm our home and mailing addresses, and where we both worked. He reviewed the rest of the documentation, making notes as he went. It took him about 10 minutes to finish, at which time he said that we were APPROVED. He was going to send the approved paperwork back to the Vermont Service Center, and it would take about six weeks for the new card to arrive. He made sure that my wife had the extension letter so that her existing card would be valid until the new one arrived. We left his office about 9:10am.
There were only five "customers" in the lobby. One couple was clearly an I-130 interview, and they were called in before us. The other three were there for biometrics only and were handled individually. One of the biometrics was Hispanic and didn't speak or read English well, so an ISO had to come out and help him with the form.
I've yet to have any issues with the Fort Smith office. The people are polite and attentive, and the waiting area is clean and comfortable. The only issue I have is the whole getting-in-the-front-door thing, and since this was our second visit that wasn't a big deal.
