Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
Interview date : 20th Feb 2014
Document submission time : 9am
Interview time : 1.30pm
Sorry for the late post because I do not have time to write a long review on my interview. I finally find a time to write this review and hope it helps everyone down the road for those that have upcoming interview. I was worried myself for my own interview and have been reading the review many times so that I get everything in order.
I arrived at the embassy 7am because I do not like to be late for anything. There's already 5 others that are there but they are all having interview for B1/B2 visa which will be at 7.40am (first time slot). I joined the queue anyways. At 7.20am the guards asked those who are going to have interview at 7.40am to queue up and exchange for their visitor pass.
Note: left queue is for visitor pass, right queue is AFTER you get your visitor pass. Do not queue on the wrong lane otherwise you will need to join the queue again!!
The guard asked me to wait behind till he called me. I waited at the chair till about 9am and the guard still did not call me to join the queue. There are 2 other friends that I met there during my interview (one is on F2A and another is on K1 visa). They are all standing together with me at the place till the guard call us to queue. We waited till about 9.10am and we have to ask him if we can join the queue because our interview is at 9am. Then we need to join the very long queue with all the other visa (B1/B2).
Note : fiancé/fiancée is not allowed in at document submission stage.
We are finally allowed in at around 9.30am. They will stamp a letter B on your interview letter and that will be the number you need to press at the machine. I got the number B4003, the first number starts from B4000. Wait for your number to be called to submit documents. I got called to counter 10. I submitted I-134, ITR 2012, W2 2012 and W2 2013 since the tax for 2013 isn't filed yet, birth certificate copies and original, food stamp form, last visited countries in the past 10 years, passport and ONE picture 2x2 inches. I just follow the list from packet 3 and submit the same. He then asked me if I bring anything else for the interview. I showed him all the pictures and chat log, he took all of it. Paid $240 in the same counter, that's 792 on that particular day and then I left the embassy. I was out at about 11am.
I took a right at the embassy and I will see an overhead bridge. I then spend my time at the restaurant opposite while waiting for 1.30pm. I think the restaurant is called antipodean. I walked back to the embassy at 12pm(not wanting to be late again). I was siting under the hot sun for an hour before we are allowed in.
There's 3 others that are interviewed before me. I think there might be chinese translation available if you do not know English because there's this girl with the number B4000, she has her interview in Mandarin!!(she received 221g, she is missing some documents like divorce decree of her mom and she needs to show proof of not being married). I waited till 3pm till I was called to the interview.
The lady that interviewed me is American and has black hair. That's all I can remember. First I need to take oath, she said something about my application being truth and whatever I answer during that day is the truth, then I said yes and signed with my fingerprints. She asked me to signed a letter of intent prepared by the embassy and then questioning begin(not in order since I can't remember the order) :
Name of fiance?
how did we meet?
how did you meet through online game?
When did you last see each other?
have you been to the united states?
when was it?
what did you do there?
why are you there so long?
didn't you have a job?
So, you are unemployed now?
Who is this guy in the picture?
You just spent your Christmas this last year?
Moved on to I-134
How much did your fiance make?
How is he going to support you if he is only making that much?
(I showed my co-sponsor document at this stage)
Who is she?
How come she is filling for single?
She is still willing to sponsor you even tho he divorce your finance's dad?
What is she working as?
That's all I can remember for questions. She then said "I will approve you, my colleague will call you shortly to tell you when and where to collect your passport."
I am done!! Scheduled to pick up my passport on 24th Feb at the embassy because I am from East Malaysia. She did ask when I am flying back and I tell you next week. For those who are from West Malaysia, you will be scheduled to pick up on Wednesday because that's what she asked the others to do that are approved the same day as me.
Note: Do not bring any laptop/ipad because they will ask you to take it to the nearest shop/stall to store that laptop away for you. They do not have space in their compartment to store it for you. Just don't bring those stuff since you won't be needing it.
