Review Topic: K1 Visa

Hello everyone! I'm a K1 visa beneficiary that just managed to go through with (almost) all the bureaucratical stuff and married the love of her life Just writing down a couple things from my experience at the Naples consulate that might be useful for people to come. First of all I want to say that it was much easier than I thought, especially considering how much of the procedures have been digitalized and a few documents that you had to file before aren't necessary anymore, such as the supplemental visa application...

Anyway, let's proceed in order: for people that need a place to stay, I encourage you to book a room at Casa Mira Napoli, very nice bed & breakfast just minutes on foot away from the consulate and chance to have the landlords book a cab for you to get to your medical appointment...very nice rooms, good prices, good food and people, and close to a lot of restaurants and grocery stores for your needs (plus there's a bank right next door in case you need cash).

Now, onto the actual visa-obtaining experience: I was very, very careful to have everything requested for the interview, so much that both me and my boyfriend checked on at least three different sources and compared results (we're a little paranoid lol)... Everything went smooth as oil, except for one minor thing that almost delayed my visa of possibly weeks: while on the website it's said that you need to bring with you two police certificates, one named CERTIFICATO DI CARICHI PENDENTI and the other CERTIFICATO PENALE, you actually need not a CERTIFICATO PENALE, but a CERTIFICATO GENERALE. Luckily, I was able to obtain one from Naples' court offices, but just imagine spending something like 30 euros extra of cab for a round trip, plus the certificate fee... yeah, big bother.

And mind you, I know that it wasn't my personal mistake, because another guy with the same kind of visa request as mine was there in line with me, and he looked just as annoyed as I was, hehe...

But aside from this, everyone was very courteous and informative, and the guy I spoke to for the interview was extremely nice and didn't even need me to show all the proof of my contacts with my fiancee that I brought with me (in the end, he just needed a couple photographs and my word to believe me).

It was all in all an exhausting but intense experience! If I can only give a little extra advice, be VERY careful when you cross the road, because what they say about traffic in Naples... is all true XD
