My wife's interview was January 22. Arrived at 6:30 and out by 10 am. It seemed to help that I attended. The guy that took her documents (they are notorious for being surly) saw me with her and even waved and said hi.

I helped carry her paperwork to the consular officer window, and that also seemed to help. CO as friendly and professional. Total time was 15 mins. My wife did great (interview in English, likely because CO saw me...I'm clearly not VV). Standard questions on bona fides. Did not ask to see pictures.

So...it went well, as expected. My wife is in AP. She's joined the communist party for work reasons. They took our affidavit and supporting material (copy of membership card, promotion letter from work). This will all be sent to the office in DC that reviews these situations. I think we have a clear cut exception case, and we were very well prepared. Staying positive.

Our attorney did a great job preparing us, including four hours of interview prep the day before, and de-briefing afterwards. Although she's not approved yet I feel safe saying the attorney was a good investment (and not that expensive). In any event we did a great job controlling all we could control with an understanding of that which is outside our control.

In any event we must wait a bit longer. Such is life and this visa journey. Best of luck to all..
