Algiers, Algeria | Review on January 10, 2014: | Faycel and Renee

hi to all VJ members,
My interview in the embassy of Algiers was quicker then i thought, they didn't let me in before the exact time or stay in front of the embassy till few minutes left.
I had to go the inspection which they told me that electronic devices not allowed to be in the embassy, I asked the agent why, and if I can keep my iPad in a box with a key or something, but he only replied that they just don't accept such devices. so he just left it a on a table there, then took all my coins cellphone and other metal stuff in a box and handed me the key. He guided me to take an exit and walk thru the stairs down the line till I get a door. The embassy inside was very quite and nice, so I headed to the door while another agent from inside opened the door for me where I found 2 others waiting. The waiting room has a TV playing how Muslims live in the US and other programs...
Anyway, if you get nervous and need to let it go, there is a toilet on the left.
We waited for few minutes then they started calling our names, I was the last.
First they call you to take your important updated papers such as Court, birth, marital status certificates, medical envelope and whatever requested in the PDF file they sent you upon receiving your package . What I didn't understand is the guy who took my stuff didn't want the extra evidences, pics or other documents. He just took what he needed then returned everything else back to me. I told him how about these extra stuff I have here but replied he got enough.
I returned back to my seat, then called me again to pay the fees then later the fingerprints.
30 minutes later the counselor called my name, he asked me if I speak English or need a translator, I replied in English and he started questioning typing on computer and looking at my package. Most of the questions were about her (my fiancee) where she was born and what she does for living, and how we meet, how many times and one question made me inside bit nervous about the difference of age between us, but I simply replied that I had bad short experience with young girls and what I have now is way much better. After that he asked me about her previous marriage which ended up years ago, and she noticed that she a made a petition to her ex, so I told him they she and her ex met in the US and got married there. The counselor officer gave me a piece of paper and told me that we cant do anything else right now till we get the requested stuff on this paper. I felt very bad and I asked if I was approved or denied, he once again told me cant say anything else right now till we get what they need.
I started reading the paper and it says that my visa is denied, and they need her ex petition papers and personal documents.
I sent them the documents ASAP and waited. 3 days later I checked my case status and it has been changed from AP to ISSUED and after 10 days changed to READY TO PICK UP.
I hope my review would help VJ members and Algerians particularly .
PS: The clinic that makes the medical exam in Algiers can give you only 2 in-arm shots but the 3rd should take it in Pasteur institute downtown, so be ready guys to run a bit especially if you don't have a car.
Good luck
