I came for my interview prepared and thinking that I will get an instant approval for my k3 visa. I was wrong. My case was put on admin. review like most of other applicants. At first, I was very upset about it, but then after hearing other applicants' experiences, I felt better because at least I was treated a whole lot better than they are. The consulate is very strict and always go by the book when it comes to issueing visas to filipinos. It sends red flag if an applicant has money on the bank and single and applying for a tourist visa, "potential over-staying alien", if the applicant hardly speaks english, came from a far-flung village and is marrying an old USC, "mail-order bride, if she speaks a little english, and worked as a GRO in the red light district, "marriage for convenience". Sadly, but these happen, not to mention arranged marriages, one relative living in US would find a guy for her niece or sister to marry and pay the guy once she comes here. I cannot really blame the consulate the way they handle cases. Maybe this way fraud will be lessen, and I am all for that. It troubles me a lot that doing things illegal seem like breathing to others while you do your best to uphold the pride (whatever that is left) of the country ( I was an executive assistant at PricewaterhouseCooper in Makati and I am proud of that). I was treated very professionally, because I came there like that, both in appearance and demeanor. I hope this entry will help other be prepared for their interview.
