Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My interview was on Nov 20th 2013 at 12:50pm. By that time my husband and I had been married for about 3 1/2 years. Our lawyer had already told us that Detroit is one of the best places to go for an interview since they are very easy. It is however 3 1/2 hrs away from our home. We arrived about 20min early. The security personnel were friendly and helpful. The lady at the front desk had a little bit of an attitude though. We waited for about 30-40min and were called in to the interview. The Immigration officer was very friendly. He is a retired marine (i think) officer. He said he was 54 years old. He swore us in and asked me the necessary questions he has to ask like "If i am a part of Taliban, Irish republic army, etc. I think that is part of the swearing routine. The only personal questions he asked us was how long we have been married and if we have any children. Then he granted my status! He did not even ask to see any of the documents we had brought. It must have taken about 10min and we were done. Exactly a week later, the day before thanksgiving i received my permanent residency card in the mail. I know what helped my case was that we had been married for so long before we applied. The reason being my husband was a permanent resident when we got married. He got his citizenship last summer and this summer we applied. The whole process took a little less than 3 months.
