I will like to say thank you to all VJ members for your posts, comments and assistance from the beginning of this K1 process.
We agreed to move our vacation days to the month of October simply because of the K1 visa interview although we knew she would not be allowed in but it was a nice feeling and confidence for me during the interview. So we practiced questions from Lagos consulate reviews and that's all.
My Interview was scheduled for 7.am but we arrived on time. I went through the normal scrutiny of documents at the entrance and inside.
There were 4 CO for the immigrants; two black American ladies (Nice even when they refuse people, one nice white lady (smiling all the time and granting people visa not all but most) and one old white guy (trust me you don't want to be interviewed by him. This old white guy didn't interview a lot of people but about 3 people he interviewed were denied and frowned his face all the time, i started praying in my heart and hoping my number shows on the white lady's counter.
Then my number appeared and guess whose counter?? The old white guy lol. I just froze for like 5seconds until the lady sitting beside me asked me to go to him lol (i was so scared. But I went to him giving myself some courage to look him in the face when he starts asking me question and it worked!!!
He asked me to take the oath and did the fingerprint. Here's are his questions;
1. Who petition for you
2. Her name?
3. How did she become US citizen
4. Have you met her parents and how did her father become US citizen (I told him i don't know and i don't wanna guess and her said 'sorry i was just curious')
5. Does she have any brother or sister?
6. Her address in the US?
7. Has she lived at the same address all her life? (I answered talking about how she went to school and went for another program after school then returned home)
9. Where does she work, her role and describe what she does at work?
10. You had vacations in the UK with her right? Did you travel outside the UK during your vacation? (I answered)
12. Any introduction, engagement? dowry? (I told him no DOWRY yet but there was introduction at her home town which is like an hour away from my hometown)
13. DO you have any picture for the introduction? (I showed him describing every one in the album...lol he smiled for the first time)
Then he returned all the pictures my fiancee sent to the USCIS and picked a paper, circled an address with his pen and told me to go there in 5 working days to pick up my passport with visa. I was so happy but didn't wanna show him how happy i was so i just said thank you and left.
- Be confident
- Pray
- Practice the questions on the consulate review for your country and make sure you know everything about your fiance/fiance even his/her family.
- Smile when answering their questions and maintain eye contact with them
