United Arab Emirates Review on October 3, 2013:

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Interview was scheduled Oct 2nd at 8am and since I'll be coming over from Dubai and the earliest bus to Abu Dhabi is 6am, Ive decided to book a decent hotel at an affordable price to stay overnight. The hotel's name is Executive Suites in Muroor Rd, only 15 mins away from US Embassy.

I left the hotel at 7am and reached the Embassy around 7:15. There are few people already and immigrant and non immigrant visa have separate lines. The guard will check your appointment letter and passport and will assist you.

They started to let us in (immigrant visa line first) at around 7:50, gone through security check and they asked us to leave all bags. It's convenient if you have an envelope with all your docs in it and pockets for money and other stuff.

I was given no. 6 and was called at the window around 7:15 for document collection. Just an advice, there will always be grumpy people in the morning so just remain calm and be nice

Docs they collected: Appointment letter (returned after checking) DS Forms (156, 156k,157, 230) Affidavit of Support and attachments (tax forms, w2 forms, bank statement, paystubs, salary letter) Police Clearances (Dubai and Phil's NBI) Medical Result (except the xray film) 2 photos Cenomar (copy only) Birth Certificate (copy only) Passport (copy only)

After that, the lady gave me a blue slip and directed me to pay the fee (240$) at the cashier. After paying, I gave the receipt and passport to the lady at the last window for fingerprinting.

Around 7:50 i was called for an interview inside the room where there is also a window separating me and the consul.

The CO was just ok, not in a bad mood but not too kind either. He asked me to raise my right hand for the oath. It was a quick but concised interview.

Here are the questions he asked: (as far as i remember) How long have you been in UAE? What do you do here? How did you meet your fiance? How did the relationship start? When and where did you get engaged? Aside from Kuala Lumpur (where we get engaged) where else did you meet? Where does he live in US? What does he do there? Was he born a Filipino? How did he get to the US?

All of the questions can really be answered easily if you know your petitioner well. So, be confident and calm your nerves. It helped me a lot when I told myself I should have nothing to worry about coz I wont be asked Math problems or million dollar intellectual questions.. tell the truth to the best of your knowledge and you'll be alright.

After the 15-min interview, the consul said "you got approved" and he gave me a pink slip and told me to come back next week to pick up my visa.

At 8:10, Im out of the embassy.

Hope this review helps

Forever grateful for the people here in VJ who takes time to answer questions and give reliable info.
