Review Topic: K1 Visa

Overall, my boyfriend said his interview was great. He said the lady at the front desk of the embassy was a little rude, but most people who are at the front line of a busy office seem to have a bit of attitude He waited about 3 hours before he was called for his interview. He said the officer was very pleasant, and the interview felt more like a casual conversation than a formal process. The officer asked about:

- our relationship
- his career
- his time in the U.S.
- my family

I think that covers most of the topics. Most of the questions were actually very open-ended/general questions. He didn't ask many questions looking for specific details. He seemed very confident in the legitimacy of our relationship and situation, which was nice. I know it would have been difficult if he had major doubts about us.

My boyfriend's TB test will expire before the extend of his visa, so unfortunately, he is required to re-do it and re-submit the paperwork before the visa can be issued. The officer was very reassuring and apologetic about this point. Once the paperwork is submitted, if everything goes accordingly, my boyfriend should have his visa in about a month. Hopefully this time frame is accurate.

I know a lot of people have frustrations and doubts in regards to how embassies are run, but I truly believe they are understaffed and overloaded with work, like most governmental agencies. Even with the long wait times, I'm grateful there is an embassy in Cairo that is able to serve us.
