Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My interview was at 8 AM and we arrived about an hour before (better safe than sorry). The building was still closed so we went to get some coffee.

Came back around 7:50, went through security and checked in.

We were called exactly at 8 AM. The interviewer was not too chatty but not unfriendly either. Was very to the point. Did ask my husband maybe two questions (the petitioner)

Most of the interview was about me, asking my bio dates, date of entry, what I did during my stay here, about school, work, etc. Asked where are my parents. Also about what I did in my home country. Looked at our passports, and at husbands citizenship certificate. Looked at our sons birth certificate. Kept my I-94. Confirmed current and previous address. During all that we mentioned that we met on line. I don't remember if she asked that or it just came out in our conversation. Asked if any of us was married before, we said no. Never asked about anything else pertaining to relationship.

Then asked if we had anything else we wanted to show her. I started handing all the copies of documents that I prepared. At some point she said she has enough. Did not ask to see photos.

She also mentioned that I will get 10 year card and then I can apply for citizenship in 3 years since we've been married for over 5 years. But never actually said at the interview that it was approved.

Then she said that she has to run some checks and review everything and we will hear from them. I was very determined to get the stamp so I asked if it was possible. She said that they don't issue stamps unless I have a ticked, trip itinerary and valid reason. I did not want to buy the ticked, I didn't want to risk it. She said that I could return on Tuesday and ask for the stamp.

That was it. Everything took about 20 minutes.

We went home and five minutes after we got there I got card production email. I was crying like a baby. Later that day I got another email with decision ('we have registered this persons permanent residency', etc).
