Hi everyone!
i want to share my experience about the doctor check up and the interview with a k-1 visa. I'm from Chile
First of all, I never got packet 3 or 4. Mi fiance was here in Chile during July and he was able to go to the embassy and get them for me, they told him right there our interview date.
Doctor appointment:
I'm not from Santiago so i tried to optimize as mush as possible my trips to Santiago. I was able to get my doctor appointment for 2 weeks prior my interview date with dr. Grossman, she is really nice and willing to help you as much as possible. I brought with me my most recent blood test and my "carnet de vacunas"
my appointment was at noon. after that she sent me to take the blood test and the x-rays and to get the necessary vaccines.
Blood test: simple, same building, no especial preparation and i was able to use my "isapre" and i paid the difference.
x-ray: this is in a different building in Av. providencia 199 piso 4, between plaza italia y calle seminario. they are open until like 6 or 6:30 pm. i had to wait 30 minutes and they gave me back the x-rays with the report. (that day the system for isapre was down and i have to pay full price $7.000 but i was able to "reembolsar" it later)
vaccines: dr. grosman told me to get 2 of them (those cover 5 diseases) and she told me to go to clinica indisa, where this vaccines were free and they gave me a certificate that I got the shots (ask them for 2! just in case and keep them safe )
after that i brought everything back to Dr. Grossman and didn't pick up the packet that she prepares until the day of my interview.
My interview:
that day i was the only one there applying for a k-1 visa. It was a 2 pm like always and the security guard let everyone in around 1:30 pm and i was out of there at 3:20pm.
The first lady i had to talk to ask me for all the forms, a little bit of "how we met" and "our story" and i ask her what copies to keep and to bring to the US with me, also she gave me a copy of the medical report, then she told me to wait. this was all in Spanish.
Second lady, she ask me if a spoke English i said yes so this interview was all in English. She ask me more questions about us, our trips, if we new each other families, what i had in mind for a job in there and stuff like that.
after that they explain me how you receive you passport back (dhl) and told me i was all set.
I hope this is somehow helpful for someone from Chile going thru this process, i know there is a lot of information on this website that is very very helpful but sometimes experiences from people of your same country seems to help a lot.
