Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to post my experience here. It's been a long journey, the first step finished today. Since other Salvadorans or Americans engaged to Salvadorans might have some questions about the most updated experiences here in El Salvador I will share with you my experience.
I am the Salvadoran and my fiance is the American. I am the beneficiary.
IN REGARDS OF THE CONSULATE TODAY:
I was there at 6 am in the morning. I made sure I asked the guard where to stand in line. I had to stay in line with the people who were getting an interview for residency and other K1 applicants.
We checked the documents with the ladies at the entrance: the confirmation for the appointment and the invitation letter from (package 3)
We had to stand in line at the embassy entry a second time.
At 7 am the guard let us in: No food, no candy, no chewing gum, no electronic devices.
At 7 05 we got to sit down in the outdoor waiting area. We received a number to get called. I was number 003.
At 8 am the first officer called me, for me to turn in all my documents (the ones requested in the list from Package 3 and 4).
At 8 30 I was called a second time to give my fingerprints.
At 9 15 I was called a third time, this time with the consular officer. I was the second one to be called and the first one to get out.
He was a very kind man. He was glad that we were going to do the interview in English. He asked me how I was doing and a couple of questions about the relationship with my fiance, how we met, how he proposed, where he worked and our wedding plans. He also asked me about my previous trips to the States, how long were they. Nothing more.
Tops! at 9 25 I was out! He said, your visa is approved! - and I said Yaaay!
The consular officer was super kind, friendly, respectful and made me feel comfortable.
IN REGARDS OF WHAT I HAD AND WHAT WE DID:
The consular officer complemented me! He said I was very organized and that he appreciated that.
My first piece of advise to you: submit everything organized with the clearest structure possible, from the beginning. He had the pics I sent in October to the USCIS and probably my 600 pages with emails and chats.
Therefore, he didn't even ask for pictures, or any other evidence that I brought (I had brought my 600 pages again and other docs again haha).
At this point, I can just tell you: be organized, be clear, be honest and everything should go well.
