Review Topic: K1 Visa

interview is at 730

left the apartment around 610

arrived at the embassy around 6:45 and heard our name being called !!

headed up to line 3 and was told to organize our documents in the following order ;

2 forms DS-156
1 form DS-156K
1 form DS-230
birth certificate beneficiary
divorce papers for both .. if married
police report
medical report
I-134
letter of employment petitionary
taxes petitionary
passport of beneficiary
two passport photos, name on the back

I would strongly advise to organize all documents before arriving.

once inside the court yard we competed organizing our documents, borrowed a stapler from creps & waffles to stable her photos.

called to the window and handed all our documents, we waited to sign all documents and only signed when asked too. The person behind the window asked her to confirm all was true and was told to have a seat.

20 minutes later she was called to the window, I gave her my passport and she approached the window. At the window she was asked the following questions in English;

promise you'll tell me the truth?

do you speak English?

have you meet his parents ?

where will you go to live ?

do you know it's cold there?

how many times has he came to colombia ?

will you live with him ?

" congratulations your visa is approved ..... who's passport is that ? " pointing at my US passport.

Erica told her is was the petitioners, her fiancé.

the interviewer ask where I was and why I was not with her during the interview.

Erica explained because you only called my name and we didn't think it was allowed unless instructed.

At this point the person given the interview requested to see me, I approached and picked up the phone and she said " congratulations your visa is approved , expect the visa through DHL in two weeks but it should arrived sooner that that. "

Our visa took 9 business days to be available for pick up in the city of Bogota

from the time DHL picked up our visa at the embassy the following day we were able to pick up the visa
