Hi everyone.
I finally got my VISA approved. as other people mentioned, at 2pm they let people in, and they are waiting for you with a list in the entry area (where the guards are). Just immigrant visas at this time. (in the morning is Tourist visas)
I want with my wife (she is american) and our daughter (1 year old). When I got call for the first interview, a nice Chilean lady asked me some basic questions about our relationship, like when we met and how, when we got married and what are my plans when we move. After that I had to sit again, and then called to another window to the final interview. Another lady (american) asked same questions and little after she said "everything looks in order, your visa is approved". :D , after that she handed a paper with information to coordinate the shipping of the passport and documents to our address.
Tree weeks after that, with no update in the website for tracking the visa, I got a email from the Consulate saying that they forgotten to take my fingerprints so I took a plane to Santiago for next day ( very expensive) and show up there in the morning. Outside in the street there was a long line of people in the street (tourist visa applicants) so I jumped the line, and while knocking at the door, I was explaining to the people that was complaining because I jumped the line, that immigrant visa is different line and numbers and this was urgent.
Inside I went to window 7 and litle after the chilean blond lady came after me to explain the situation, I explained that I would like to get my visa the same day if it was possible and then return to Antofagasta. She said that it was very possible. I had to wait a little more and then got called again for fingerprints , and that was it. she told me to return at 4pm to see if my visa was ready to pick up.
So at 4pm I was there, when inside and called the same window. Little after she gave me the visa in my passport, the emvelope with all the documentarion sealed to use it in the POE (Atlanta for us) and that´s it. I happily returned to Antofagasta to meet my wife and daughter. Now we are selling everything on facebook and getting the big fat 4 bags ready to our travel.
I hope that this helps others, and remember that they have to take your fingerprints before you leave the consulate.
Have a great immigration process!
