Medical exam at Regina Maria, Bucharest, Romania
The appointment was at 9.30 am, but I got there around 9.00 am. The girl from the reception didn't saw my appointment in her computer, as the scheduling was made directly with Dr. Toma. After telling her I was there for the visa purpose, the girl from the reception told me to wait and some nurse would come out and take my passport.
At 9.30 am, a nurse came and asked how many of us were there for the visa. She took the passports (there was another couple there for the visa), and then she took me to another room to take my blood sample. While she was putting all my info in the computer, another nurse took my blood (they take a very small, insignificant amount of blood). After that, she told me to go to room #6, where Dr. Toma will see me for my consultation. Dr. Toma was already with someone else in the room, so I waited a few minutes. While I was waiting, another nurse came out and said I can do the X-ray of my lungs. So, I went to do my X-rays (which took less than 2 minutes), and afterwards I went straightly to Dr. Toma's office, as she was already waiting for me. The consultation was more like a friendly conversations. Typical questions, like:
-any surgeries and hospital stays;
-any drug, alcohol use in the past;
-any chronic diseases
-if I am a smoker, etc
Then she measured my height, weight, took my pressure (which was a little low, but understandable as I was up since 4 am), listened to my heart, lungs, checked my liver and my kidneys and that was it. The results were ready at 3pm, and she sad, everything is ok and wished me an easy journey. Everyone at the Regina Maria was very nice and friendly and smiling all the time. I highly recommend Regina Maria for the medical exam. The cost of the entire medical exam is 400 lei.
PS : The only problem I had was, that on my vaccine record, it only appear the vaccines, while it should have been the vaccines + the dates when these vaccines were administrated to you. She said to go to my family doctor and ask her a copy of my vaccine records, before I leave for the US, as I will need it after I get married there.
I will update my review on the 26th June, after I am finished with my embassy interview
The interview at the US Embassy
Got there at 12.30 and had to wait outside till 12.55 when they called us in one by one. I was the only one with K1,there was also 2 older couples, I think for family reuniting in the US, and 2 men. At the entrance, I went through the security check, they told me to turn of my mobile and leave it at them. They also checked my wallet, my file and told me to go to the building right in front. The room has around 17 counters(if I remember correctly) and lots of chairs. The lady at the counter 2 told us all to give her the passports. After waiting around 5 mins, she called me and told me to go to counter 12 (i think it was counter 12) to the cash desk, to pay the fee. Just a little advice, bring dollars to the interview, cause they will exchange you the money in dollars at an exchange rate of 3,5 lei/1 dollar. But at the cash desk, there was't anyone, so I was called at counter 6 for finger prints. After, I waited to the cash desk again, and finally a woman came and cashed the fee. After, I waited for another 5-10 mins, and the lady at counter 2 called me to give her the documents: birth certificate (original+photocopy), police records, the affidavits of support (from my sponsor and the cosponsor), the medical exam(she gave me back the X-ray), the evidence of the relationship (she was very surprised when she saw my pile). The photo album wouldn't fit in, so she told me if the consul asks to see the photos, to show it to her through the window. She also asked if I registered for TNT, delivery courier, for my visa with the passport, and I said yes and gave her a number that the girl from the call centre told me to take to the interview. Then I waited, around 30 mins or more, I was the penultimate to be called to the interview. The interview was held at counter 11. The consul was a lady around 40; unfortunately, I think she was sick, so she couldn't talk very loud, but next to her was the lady from the counter 2, to repeat the questions loudly. The questions were:
how did we meet;
when did we first meet in person;
what was he doing in Ireland;
if I have any relatives in the US;
how many times did he visit me in Romania after I came from France;
have I lived in other countries other than Romania and Denmark;
why didn't we get married in Romania;
where are we planning to have the wedding in the US
I think there were a few more questions, but strictly about our relationship, no questions about financial stuff or what I plan to do in the US, or if I met his family. She didn't even asked to see the photo album.
The interview was in English
The romanian lady told me I can pick up the passport with the visa in 2 days from TNT courier, and that was it. Very nice and helpful staff at the embassy.
