My interview was on December 5th, it's just taken me forever to get this done!
My appointment was at 10:30am and I got there at about 9:30, there were about 5 people in the line ahead of me and I wasn't sure if I was in the right place so I just stood there and a nice young lady came along and checked my letter and whatnot and stayed in the line. Soon they started to let us in and I had my passport and letter checked by a security guard who made fun of my passport pictures! I then went through the x-ray machines and all the way around the embassy. I went inside and at the desk I was asked if I had any electronics on me, and I think if you have cameras and the like they make you leave them there. Also you can't take in liquids, they don't like them.
I then went through the heavy doors and I handed my letter over to a young lady who printed out a deli counter style ticket and I sat down. Its like a crazy mix of a massive deli counter/post office. I sat down with number 14 and I was the only immigrant visa up on the board in line so I wasn't sure how long it was going to take. My number was called and I went to my window where a young american lady was waiting, and she wasn't the most friendly and pleasant of people, but she wasn't rude either, just indifferent. She took my passport, birth certificate, police certificate, photos and payment stub. She then wanted my affadavit and like a silly person I was misguided before and told that I could still et my visa without the form, just evidence...well I gave the evidence, was given the pink slip which you keep and fill out for the courier then I took another seat and waited. I saw the first lady at about 9:55 and I sat untill about 10:25 untill the next appointment. There is a snack bar in there which is good because of the restrictions going in prohibit you from taking your own. I sat there very nervously waiting my turn. By now there was quite a few immigrant visas on the board and I was just glad that I had gotten tehre early, its definitely worth arriving early.
Then I was called in for the 2nd interview. I saw a young american man who was very friendly and polite. He asked me to raise my right hand and to swear that all I said was true. I did so then he asked me when my fiance would be graduating college ( and he used his name too), what he does now, how much he makes and what is he going for in college. I told him (my husband is graduating this may with 2 degrees) and he looked at the support and said that he was happy with the amounts of money that our co - sponsers have but he wanted it notarized because he wanted to make sure that we would not be leaning on the state, he said he needed that also because my fiance was a part time worker and I would have to wait to be able to work, he wanted it done. However he was very friendly and helpful and told me to find the form online, call my fiancee NOW, tell him and his parents to fill it out, just re-send the evidence I gave in and tax returns for the both of them, get it notarized and get it 2-day service over to me (this was a tuesday) and get the courier to send it up to them friday and for him to get it by monday. I asked if other than that I had my visa for sure and he said absolutely he just wanted to see it legally binding, so I said ok...I left feeling upset and whatnot but hopeful it would work out. My fiance and his parents did the form and I had the paperwork by thursday, the courier picked it up friday but it didn't get to the embassy untill tuesday! We were in a major time crunch because we hada wedding set up for the 30th of december. My fiance and his mother contacted their senator to make sure what they were doing was correct and that I was definitely getting my visa, the senator got a hold of the embassy and talked to them about my case! It's crazy. my visa arrived that friday and I flew over on sunday! Overall they were very fast and efficent
