We arrived to our 11:15 appointment one hour early. We were immediately told that the office was behind schedule and that we'd have a "little wait". At approximtely 1:00 pm we went into the interview with a nice man who smiled and was cordial. We were asked simple questions to confirm name, dob and address on the application. We were sworn in. I was asked as to how we met, my wife and step-daughter were asked generic questions about whether they engaged in drug trafficking and human smuggling. The uscis officer didn't have our marriage license, my wife's birth certificate nor our 2012 income tax forms w/ W2, fortunately, we were prepared with extra copies of each and an original marriage certificate. We had previously submitted all of these things, but they were lost in the process. We had to show no photos nor provide any evidence of a continuing relationship. Our officer stated, " based on what I am seeing here, I am going to approve this application." The real time of the interview was probably 15 minutes. The officer was very professional and business-like but when te interview was concluded, he was frendly and accomodating. Moral of the story is to be over-prepared, confident and have copies and even originals with you that you can afford to be taken. God bless all of you. This is a trying and bureaucratic process. However, it can be navigated with lots of patience and lots of love, oh and lots of waiting and paperwork!!
