This review is for the Application Support Center in Alexandria Virginia...
Went there a month before my biometrics appointment was due to see if I could get a walk in...the supervisor wasn't happy about it, but I pleaded my case and acted like I was a naive stupid foreigner (always a good trick) and she let me go ahead.
One form and 5 minutes later I was having my fingerprints taken by a very nice chap who was polite and thought it was really funny that I was so interested in the neat biometrics machine.
His supervisor (who had to sign off on the prints and info) was also very polite. I was out of there in 15 minutes. It wasn't at all busy, it was a nice calm environment and everyone was very helpful.
It may be a little different at busy times, but I can say on Tuesday mornings when they have just opened it is a decent place to go.
You can Metro to Huntingdon and then take a bus which will drop you off right outside the building, or you can park no charge.
Hope this helps!
