My two Step-Kids had their CR-2 interviews January 10th, successful!!
My wife had her CR-1 interview in december, I submitted a favorable review of that experience already.
Once again, I was very happy with the way the interviews were conducted, but like before, the paperwork handling was very screwed up. As the paperwork did get sorted out in a reasonably timely manner, I am not too irritated by it.
Arrived at 6:45 for the 7am interview. Walked straight in, no line outside. Instructed by the IV Unit guard to wait with about 100 other folks for the initial screening. At 7:30, submitted the forms, photos, passport etc..
At 8:15 called to Window Y (not a good thing!), asked for the boy's application, photos, and passport (Hmm, didn't i just do that?), also told that the medical was missing. But was told to pay my fee ($380 X 2) and sit down to wait for my number.
8:30, called again to Y, given a second number, much bigger than the one I had already. Hmm... something's not right here....
9:15, called to fingerscanning, but the lady was surprised to see two children with me. Hmm... this is definitely not going well. she waived finger scanning anyway.
9:30, called by name on PA system to bring passport and photos to Window 18. But of course they already had them from the original submission. Lady was apologetic and while I was talking to her someone rushed up with the missing packet. Phew!! That's a relief.
10:15 called for pre-interview. The man was Filipino, professional but friendly. He needed NSO NBirth certificates which of course I had, then asked for the Baptismals, but didn't seem phased when I said I did not have them. Collected the Affidavit of support, tax documents, asked me how long I had been in the Phils and when I last left the country, then wished me good luck.
11:00 final interview. The American man was very friendly and relaxed. Once I handed him my wife's CR1 copy he said that was all he needed to see. Just asked the kids if the lady sitting by them was their Mother, and if I was their father, what grade they were in and we were outa there!!
