Here's my review...
First thing I want to say is: YEAH & APPPPPPRRRRROOOOOVVVVEEEEEDDDDD
I will now get straight to the point...
My fiance's interview was scheduled for 7:30am...just like everyone else's.
He arrived at 06:20
The were 2 lines formed...one for immigrant visa's and the other for non-immigrant visa's
An employee was going down the lines asking for the interview appointment letters and writing a number and letter on them (like B1...never learned what that meant)
Once the doors opened, they went thru security (like you do at an airport)
(my finace left his cell phone at home, since we already knew they are not allowed in.)
After security clearance - 2 men were checking what types of visa's you are there for and then giving #'s.
My fiance was #6.
He took a seat and waited until about 8:15am when his # was called by a female who had our file.
She took documents out of our file as she asked a few questions:
- Have you been abroad?
- For how long?
- Have you ever been married?
- What's your fiance's name?
Then, she said you are only missing one thing...your original military certificate. Then, she said you can send it to us through DHL & do not stress. It's no big deal (we sent them a 'copy' in packet #3) She said most ppl come here without it because we do not ask you to send the original. (hint-hint everyone)
My fiance said how do I send it? She said we will give you a cover letter to send with it so it gets attached to your case.
Then, she handed him two receipts and said - go pay $240.00 and the DHL fee.
So, he paid the 2 fees and sat and waited again.
((This woman was very friendly and respectful))
Then, the CO called him to the window at about 10:50 am.
The CO was a man who was also very friendly and respectful.
He slid the forms thru the slit under the glass for my fiance to sign in front of him. He signed them and slid them back.
Then, the interview began.
The CO made limited eye contact as he entered data into the computer during the interview. (Yet, he remained friendly and professional)
Questions started:
- How did you meet your fiance?
* My fiance told him our story from the beginning & how our friendship grew into love and respect. (smiling so bright of course... we still smile & laugh when we talk about our beginning together.)
- When did you meet? (in person)
- Only once?
- For how long? (how long was our time together)
- Did you get along?
- Have you ever been married?
- Has your fiance ever been married?
- Do you communicate with her children?
- How old are they? (he communicated their ages and defined his relationship with them)
The interview ended.
The CO stated You Are Approved!!
My fiance smiled sooooo bright...
Then, the CO said: With AP - but only 1-2 months.
My fiance was concerned about the AP (horror stories)...
But the CO assured him...no no...do not worry, it is clear you have a sincere relationship. You will have your visa within 1-2 months. (((YEAH!!!!!!)))(& Yes, the CO said those Beautiful words!!)
The CO also said most ppl in our case type go thru 1-2 months of AP before they get their visa & not to worry...that this is 'normal'
The CO handed him 2 docs. One was the page that needs to be sent back with the original military doc and the other with information to track the AP status online.
So, they said their thank you's and good-bye's and my sweetheart left the embassy...Happy as HAPPY can be
Our overall review is that they are very very organized and knowledgeable with what they do! Every single person my fiance encountered was respectful!!
I have heard horror stories and have to say that I am so grateful that we did not experience ANY of those situations. Thank you CRO for representing where my baby is coming 'home' to!!
PS: They never took our additional documents. It appears everything they were looking for was right there in our file. I had sent my 2012 taxes as well to show current income, but they didn't need them because my previous returns proved that I have the ability to support him.
Good Luck to all those to come!! (Inshallah)
