My Fiancée’s schedule for interview was yesterday March 25, 2013. But before she had her interview, she had her medical done a week before. She said that the medical went smoothly and that the staffs at the hospital where she had her medical were all friendly. She was able to get the result on the same day. It took her 3 hours including the waiting time to get everything done. The staff handed her the result reminding her that she should not attempt to open the sealed envelope and that she should bring it to the embassy during the interview. There's another white envelope being handed to her and that is the result of the check up and the immunization record. So, the day of the interview came, and that was yesterday, March 25, 2013. Her appointment time was at 7:00am. My fiancé happens to have a friend who has gone through all this and generous enough to give her some tips. My fiancée was told that she must be at the embassy as early as 5:00am as the line gets longer in a blink of an eye. To avoid the long line, and wanting to be the first in line, my fiancée (with her mom) got up early. Little did she know that she would arrive at the embassy way too early 4:30am. One applicant came after 45minutes, and then the other after the other. They were allowed to get inside few minutes before 7:00am she was instructed to turn off her phone and other gadgets and deposit them at the counter. Then, she passed through security check. The lady at the first counter told her to proceed to window 6. The lady at the counter asked her to give her passport, her medical, and proof of relationship. (My fiancée got 2 bags for the proof)That's a bit too many but she said better be prepared than sorry. Then the lady asked her to pay for the courier pass back at the Thai Post counter. She paid 350 Baht the staff at the Thai Post gave her 2 copies of receipt, one for her copy, and the other one is to be returned to window 6. The lady at the window 6 then told my fiancée to be seated and wait for her name to be called. Before her name was called she saw that the CO was looking thoroughly at her papers. She could see it from where she was seated. She knew it was her papers because of the color of the birth certificate and she also see the picture attached to the form She said, she got damn nervous for she knew she would be the next one to be called. Few minutes passed and she found herself approaching to window 5. She greeted the CO "Good morning, Sir!" She saw there's another guy standing beside the CO at window 5, with a pen and paper. The CO, then, put my fiancée under oath, that everything she put in her papers were all true and correct, and that everything that she'd say during the interview are true and to the best of her knowledge. After that, the CO asked my fiancée to sign a paper (that's one of the form she submitted that she left unsigned as it should be only signed at the presence of a CO ) Then the interview started and it went like this:
CO: The name of your fiancée is JJ right? Fiancée: Yes, sir.
CO: and your name is CK?
fiancée: Yes, Sir.
CO: So how did you meet him?
Fance: I met him through an online dating site
CO: What dating site is that?
Fiance: Plenty of Fish Sir.
CO: Oh..plenty of fish. ( the 2 guys smiled and said something to each other. The other guy who was standing kept writing down the things she said in his paper while the CO asking her was encoding her answers.)
CO: Did you start using that site last year?
Fiance: Yes, sir.
CO: When did you meet him?
Fiance: January
CO: this year?
Fiance: No. January 2012.
CO: Why did you choose him over other guys?
Fiance: It because of his good personality.
CO: What about his personality?
Fiance: He's a caring, loving, honest, sincere in his intentions, and most of all he is family oriented and has strong family values.
CO: Has he come to visit you?
Fiance: Yes, sir.
CO: How many times?
Fiance: three times Sir.
CO: When was the last time?
Fiance: October 2012 Sir.
CO: Is he here with you?
Fiance: No Sir.
CO: When did you come to Thailand?
Fiance: June 2010 Sir.
CO: Why did you come here?
Fiance: I work here Sir.
CO: What do you do?
Fiance: I am a teacher in a primary school.
CO: You teach all subjects?
Fiance: No sir. Only ENglish
( Then he browsed one of the documents my fiance submitted, and saw our screenshot together with her mom, and he asked about it.)
CO: Who is this woman?
Fiance: My mother Sir.
CO: She's here?
Fiance: Yes Sir. Since January.
CO: I see that you have a work visa. Why do you have it? Where did you get it?
Fiance: From the immigration Sir.
( My fiance said that she should have said, she has a work visa because she works there, but it's "immigration" that came out of her mind. She said that the CO talks very fast and asked questions one after the other. The CO smiled and continued with the interview)
CO: They issued you the work visa?
Fiance: Yes sir. I just provided the papers needed. My school helped me provide the necessary documents for the work visa.( Then the CO and the other man keeps nodding)
CO: Are you married?
Fiance: No Sir.
CO: Have you ever been married?
Fiance: No sir.
CO: Has he ever been married. Does he have kids?
FIance: no Sir.
(Then, the CO asked my fiance whether she has read the article about domestic violence and handed her a copy while saying something about the article)
CO: I am going to give back all these documents to you but I am going to keep your passport because I am going to issue you a visa. It will be delivered to you through the postal service that you paid for earlier today. You will receive it next monday or Tuesday.
Fiance: Wow. Thank you Sir. Thank you so much.
CO: ok (then they smile)
Fiance: Good Luck.
other CO: good luck??
Fiance: oh. that's for me. I should have said. God bless sir.. and thank you
Fiance: Have a good day. Thank you sir.
( the two guys were both smiling when my fiance left )
